Buyer Guidelines

Be very careful and follow right guidelines when you buy jewelry from online jewelry retailers.

How many times have we felt “cheated” or “being delivered not what we ordered” when we bought something online? It is not like in a shop, where you can walk up to the person on the other side of the counter and ask for explanation. Sometimes, you just cannot find a person to talk to at all. Yet, shopping online is a trend that is rapidly rising all over the world – it is a fact. So, instead of complaining about it, we can learn how to do it right and be more careful. Especially, when it comes to buying expensive jewelry online.

Important guidelines to follow when you buy jewelry from internet jewelry stores:

  1. Most importantly, you must know where to buy fine jewelry online. Every time before you press that “buy” button, make sure you check who the seller is. Ideally, you would want to buy expensive jewelry from most popular online jewelry stores and top online jewelers. In the case that you had not heard about the company before, check the company details on their website. Also, make sure to check reviews about that company from other sources on the internet.
  2. When we buy jewelry online, we just look at a picture or a video on jewelry store websites before we buy it. No matter how good the quality of a video or a picture is, it will never be the same like holding it in your hands and seeing it up close. Sometimes there are so beautiful pictures or videos that make you want to buy it right away. But, when you receive it and look up close, it doesn’t look the same. So, make sure the company you are buying from has a good return policy like many top jewelry online stores do.
  3. Finally, don’t forget to ask about Condition/Authentication/Certification. A written description should help ease the buying process by providing detailed information and elaborating further on any photos. Measurements should be provided by those who sell jewelry online. Independent grading reports and/or appraisals should be available to back up descriptions. Provenance or history should be explained. So, make sure to ask for certificates or any other documents confirming the quality and authenticity of the jewelry you are buying…
